Gracie Jane (Stevens) Crooker, 73, of St. Elmo, formerly of Effingham, IL, passed away on Thursday, January 25, 2018 at her home surrounded by her loving family.

Services will be held at a later date. Johnson Funeral Home in Effingham is assisting the family. The family has requested donations be made directly to Johnson Funeral Home, 1110 N. Fourth Street, Effingham, IL 62401.

Gracie was born on May 6, 1944, in Brazil, IN, the daughter of Edgar and Marie (Target) Stevens. She was united in marriage to Rolland P. Crooker in 1975 in Effingham, and he preceded her in death on February 14, 2012. Gracie had been employed for over 17 years as a dietary aide at Lakeland Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Effingham. She was a former member of the Effingham Moose Lodge 502. Gracie was also an avid Chicago Cubs fan, liked to crochet, work in the garden, and spend time with her family members and grandchildren.

Gracie is survived by her children, George Batchelor of Brazil, IN, Edgar Batchelor of Marion, Steven (Christa) Ward of Brazil, IN, Billi Jo (fiancé, Ron Howell) Depoister of St. Elmo, and Marty (Angela) Crooker of Dieterich; seven grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; and special friend, Dianna Tippy of Marion. Gracie will be greatly missed and always loved and forever in their hearts.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Rolland; daughter, Shannon Lee Ward; grandson, Adam Alonzo Batchelor; 1 sister, and 1 brother.
