Louis J. Feldhake, 91, passed away Tuesday evening, January 23, 2018 at his home in Effingham, surrounded by his loving family.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, January 27 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Effingham. Burial will take place in St. Anthony Cemetery with military graveside rites. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Friday evening at Bauer Funeral Home in Effingham with a 6:30 p.m. Knights of Columbus rosary. Memorials may be made to Catholic Charities or to Sacred Heart School.

Louis was born December 15, 1926 in Sigel, the son of Joseph B. and Helena (Dust) Feldhake. He married Esther (Pike) Niebrugge on December 27, 1979 and she survives. Louis served with the United States Army and took part in farming for many years. He was a long time member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Effingham, the Effingham Knights of Columbus Council #665, as well as the St. Gabriel’s Catholic Church in Pompano Beach, FL. 

Louis is survived by his wife, Esther of Effingham; step-son, Brian Niebrugge of Effingham; sister, Margaret Jansen of Sigel; grandchildren, Quanea (Travis) Ingram, Jennifer, Brianna and Brody Niebrugge, Donald and Tony Brown, all of Effingham; four great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews also survive.

Louis was preceded in death by his parents; step-daughter, Karla Niebrugge; brother, Joseph Feldhake and sister, Rita Siewert.
