Charles Hickey, Sr., 71, of Jewett, Illinois, passed away at 12:51 PM – Sunday, January 14, 2018, at his daughter’s home in Toledo, Illinois.

Funeral services celebrating the life of Charles will be held at 1:00 PM – Thursday, January 18 at the Meyer Funeral Home – Bishop Chapel in Greenup, Illinois. Burial will be in the Mullen Cemetery near Montrose, Illinois, with full military rites by the Cumberland County Veterans Association. Visitation will be held 2 hour before the service. In loving memory of Charles, memorials may be made to Lincolnland Hospice.

Charles was born on January 8, 1947, in Mattoon, Illinois the son of Chester Leroy and Opal Mae (Lawhorn) Hickey. He served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. Charles married Janet L. Crook on September 22, 1973, and she preceded him in death on May 14, 1989. Charles worked at Fedders in Effingham for several years and owned and operated a tree trimming and stump grinding business. He was baptized a Baptist and enjoyed fishing.

Charles is survived by: Children – Stephen (Kathy) Hickey of Toledo, Illinois; Chad Hickey (Fiancé Amy Lewis) of Greenup, Illinois; Kevin Hickey of Greenup, Illinois; Dawn (Mike) Burley of Toledo, Illinois; Chalres Hickey, Jr. of Greenup, Illinois; Charlotte (Jeff) Maynard of Lexington, South Carolina and Patricia (Tom) Janca of Manteno, Illinois; Brothers – Dale Hickey of Chester, Illinois and Lowell Hickey of Oklahoma; Sisters – Diane (Ty) Klover of Braidwood, Illinois and Wanda (Stew) Storm of Ft. Myers, Florida; 23 Grandchildren; 4 Great Grandchildren and a Great Grandchild to be born in April, 2018.

Charles was preceded in death by his parents, wife, brother Jerry Hickey and a grandson Kody Eskew.
