Mary M. Bloemer, 76 of Green Creek, passed away Tuesday, January 2, 2018 at HSHS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, January 5 at St. Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church, Green Creek, with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Thursday evening at the church. Mary’s family has requested donations be made to the National Attaxia Foundation or to Crossroads Cancer Center in Effingham.

Mary was born October 4, 1941 in Effingham, the daughter of Ambrose and Eleanor (Ruholl) Koester. She married Robert J. “Bob” Bloemer on August 20, 1960 and he survives. Mary was a member of St. Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church, Green Creek, and the St. Mary’s Council of Catholic Women.

Mary is survived by her husband, Bob of Green Creek; five sons, Dean (Angie) of Sigel, Todd (Angie) of Teutopolis, Alan (Sandy) of Green Creek, Troy (Kate) of Teutopolis and Scott (Erin) of Teutopolis; three daughters, Jane (Brad) Lustig of Wheeler, Lisa (Wayne) Lustig of Green Creek and Holly (Justin) Funneman of Dieterch; sister, Judy (Paul) Lohman of Teutopolis; 28 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Ron Koester and his wife, Linda; two sisters, Janet Tegeler and Nancy Koester.
