David L. Brownback (68) of Neoga

David L. Brownback, 68, of rural Neoga passed away at 11:20 P.M. Saturday, December 23, 2017, in the Carle Foundation Hospital of Urbana, Illinois.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Thursday, December 28 in the Swengel-O'Dell Funeral Home in Neoga, with the Rev. Richard Coen officiating. Burial will be in the Bethany Cemetery of rural Assumption, IL. Visitation for family and friends will be held from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. Wednesday at the funeral home. The family requests Casual Attire. Memorials may be made to the family in care of the Swengel-O'Dell Funeral Home, P. O. Box  339, Neoga, IL  62447.

He was born March 25, 1949, in Christian County, Illinois the son of Harold and Emma Rose (Kraus) Brownback. David married Judy K. Carruthers, June 5, 1971 in Neoga, Illinois. He was retired from the former Carruthers I. G. A. Store in Neoga and he was also a retired a United States Postal Employee. David was a former board member of the Lake Mattoon Water Department, an avid Cardinal Baseball fan.

He leaves his wife Judy Brownback of rural Neoga, IL; four brothers, John Brownback of Chatham. IL, Donnie Brownback and wife Carol of Nokomis, IL, Michael Brownback and wife Barbara of Pana, IL and Steven Brownback of Assumption, IL, one sister, Karen Ohl and husband Kenny of Assumption, IL; one sister-in-law, Robin Brownback of Assumption; one brother-in-law and sister-in-law, John and Michele Carruthers of rural Sigel, IL; several nieces and nephews.

David was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Jim and Jerry Brownback.
