Tommy Allen "Tom" Samsil, 63, of Greenup passed away at 9:25 am Wednesday, December 20, 2017 at his residence.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM on Wednesday December 27th at the Barkley Funeral Chapel in Greenup, IL. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 PM on Tuesday evening at the funeral chapel. Burial will be in the Hazel Dell Cemetery. Memorials can be made to the Coles County Animal Shelter 6818 N. Co. Rd. 1120 E. Charleston, IL. 61920.

Tom was born on June 9, 1954 in Evansville, IN to Thomas Elwood & Doris Stembridge Samsil. He married Teresa Tharp on April 2, 1976 in Charleston, IL.

Surviving is his loving wife; Daughters Dana Ogle of Springfield, IL, Liana (Milton) Hite of Mattoon, Marissa (Zak) Burton of Lerna; Brothers David Samsil and Mark Samsil; Sister Peggy Samsil; Grandchildren Satina (Michael) Braswell, Korina (Jaymes) Williams, Connor and Tristen Marlow, Patrick and Mary Jo Hite; Great grandson Nova Braswell; and several nieces and nephews.

Tom was preceded in death by his parents and one Brother Steven.

Tom was the “Jack of all trades” kind of person, he worked at Greenup Grain for many years, owned a landscaping and lawn care business and a Siding company. He was shop foreman for Ron Hawkins. Tom could work on and fix most anything. He loved to go hunting and fishing. He also was an avid collector of guns and knives.
