Delbert E. Miller, 76, of Brownstown died at 5:00 a.m. Saturday, December 9, 2017 at Aperion Care, St. Elmo.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, December 12 at First Christian Church, Brownstown with Jim Dann officiating. Burial will follow at Liberty Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Monday at the church and for one hour prior to services. Memorials may be made to the First Christian Church, Brownstown or the donor’s choice. Gieseking-Claggett Funeral Home, Brownstown is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.

Delbert was born on Wednesday, July 23, 1941 in Decatur, IL to Ted and Iva (Grandfield) Miller. He married Karen Smith Helm on December 21, 1979 in an airplane flying over the family farm. He was a graduate of Brownstown Community High School, class of 1959. He was a retired farmer and airport operator. He was a flight instructor, pilot, airplane mechanic and crop duster. He was a member of the First Christian Church, Fayette County Hospital Board, Fayette County Soil and Water Board, and Sefton Township Trustee.

He is survived by his wife of over 37 years, Karen of Brownstown; son, Samuel Miller of Brownstown; daughters, Wanda (Roger) Powell, Yukon, OK and Carol (Brad) Goodart of Collinsville, OK; sister-in-law, Betty Miller of Brownstown; 4 grandchildren, Ryan Powell, Ashley Shaw, Joshua Guess, and Brody Miller.

Delbert was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Jesse Miller.
