James E. ‘Jim’ Moore, 71, of St. Elmo, died at 10:10 p.m. Wednesday, November 29, 2017 at his home surrounded by his family.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, December 2 at Gieseking Funeral Home, Altamont with Rev. Olen Evans officiating. Burial will follow at Sidener Cemetery, rural St. Elmo with military rites by Crawford-Hale American Legion Post 95. Visitation will be from noon until service time. Memorials may be made to Sidener Cemetery or Fayette County Hospice.

Jim was born on Tuesday, October 8, 1946 in Keyesport, IL to Darrell and Mary (Cook) Moore. He married Joyce Durbin on March 5, 1967 in St. Elmo. He was veteran of the U.S. Navy having served during Vietnam. He was a retired Boilermaker with Local 363 and a member of Crawford-Hale American Legion Post 95, Vandalia.

He is survived by his wife of over 50 years, Joyce; sons, Chris (Angela) Moore, St. Elmo and Ty (Dawn) Moore, St. Elmo; daughter, Andrea Mahaney, Mattoon; brother, Mickey (Fern) Moore, St. Elmo; 11 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Patricia Forson.
