Lawrence Wayne Budde, 82, of Mason, IL, passed away on Wednesday, November 22, 2017.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, November 27 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Louisville, IL. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Sunday and from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service Monday all at the church. Services are in the care of Johnson Funeral Home in Effingham. Memorials may be made in loving memory of Lawrence to the St. John’s Lutheran Church, Louisville, IL, c/o cemetery fund, Guardian Angel Adult Day Care, Teutopolis, or donor’s choice.

Lawrence was born on July 27, 1935, to Martin and Edna (Wendling) Budde in rural Effingham County. He was baptized on August 10, 1935 into the Lutheran faith at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Louisville, IL. Lawrence married Vera (Pieper) Budde on April 1,1956 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Strasburg. They were happily married for 60 years. Through these years they built the family farm where the values and principles of hard work were instilled and humbly carried with them as they raised their children. Lawrence enjoyed horseback riding and was an avid quail hunter. He taught each of his children and grandchildren gun use and safety. Lawrence was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Louisville, and also the Men’s Club and served in various offices of the church council.

Lawrence is survived by his children, Alan (Cathy) Budde of Mason, Cindy (Sam) Williams of Kevil, KY, Brad (Vicky) Budde of Mason, Janet (Bruce) Smithenry of Newton, and Deb Bergbower of Newton; 16 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren and the fifth due in March.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Vera; his parents; and brother, Lloyd Budde.
