Oland R. ‘Odie’ Haywood, 77, of Brownstown, passed away at 8:10 a.m. on Thursday, November 9, 2017 at Aperion Care, St. Elmo.

Funeral services will be at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, November 14 at Gieseking Funeral Home, Altamont with Rev. Dr. Ellen B. Moma officiating. Burial will follow at Beecher City Cemetery, Beecher City, IL. Visitation will be for one hour prior to service time. Memorials may be made to Crossroads Cancer Center, Effingham, Lincolnland Hospice, or the First Christian Church, Blue Mound.

Oland was born on Thursday, October 13, 1940 in Bonne Terre, Missouri to Marvin Edgar and Nellie Ellen (McMullin) Haywood, Sr. He married Diana Lynne Green on May 5, 1973 in Blue Mound, IL. Although he did not hold a church membership, he was of the Christian faith. He was a member of Altamont Masonic Lodge # 533 and was a proud member of the International Brotherhood of Boilermakers for over 45 years, serving out of the Local 363 in Belleville, IL. He enjoyed his work family, hunting and fishing, among other outdoor activities, and last, but certainly not least his precious family.

He is survived by his wife of over 44 years, Diana of Brownstown; sons, Edgar and Robby; daughters, Jodie and Tessa DeWitt and her husband Michael of Farina; many grandchildren including, Tiffany Holland, Justin Holland, Summer Linkey, Zachary Linkey and Caleb DeWitt; several great grandchildren; special cousin, Pat Rice of Arnold, MO; and his four-legged friend, Patch.

Oland was preceded in death by: his parents, son, Rolland; brothers, Marvin L. Haywood and Orville W. Haywood.
