Robert Eugene Nickels (81) of St. Elmo

ROBERT EUGENE NICKELS, 81, of St. Elmo, Illinois, a loving father and grandfather passed away on Thursday morning November 9, 2017 at his home in St. Elmo, Illinois.

Funeral Services will be conducted by Rev. Pee Wee Denton at 11:00 AM Tuesday, November 14, at the Kull Funeral Home, St. Elmo, Illinois. Visitation for family and friends will be be Monday beginning at 6:00 PM at the Kull Funeral Home, St. Elmo, Illinois. Burial will follow the funeral services at the Maplewood Cemetery in St. Elmo, Illinois. Memorials may be made at the donor's choice.

Robert was born on February 7, 1936 in Otego Township, Fayette County, Illinois the son of Charles Clifford and Mary Catherine Strauch Nickels. He was raised with his brothers Kenneth, Charles and Gary. He married Thelma Lou Ledbetter in St. Elmo on June 27, 1953 in the home of Rev. Charles Simpkins. Thelma preceded him in death on January 27, 2005. Robert was employed as a machinist and a tool and die maker for different companies as Fedders USA in Effingham, Crane Industries in Vandalia and last Sim Products Beecher City, Illinois when he retired in 1998.

In his passing he leaves behind his: Son: David E. Nickels of St. Elmo, Illinois; 3-Daughters: Penny (husband, David) Harrison of St. Elmo, Illinois, Barbara (husband, Kelly) Smith of Green River, Wyoming and Diana Nickels of Phoenix, Arizona; Brother: Gary Allen Nickels of Brownstown, Illinois; 2-Sisters-in-law: Loretta Nickels of Brownstown and Sharon Harris of Brownstown, Illinois; 4- Grand Children, 7-Great Grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins; Special Companion: Decker at home.

He was preceded in death by his Parents, Wife, Brothers: Charles and Kenneth Nickels, and 1-Granddaughter: Nicole Jane Nickels.
