Sharon K. (Rosine) Ries, 61, of Effingham, IL, passed away on Wednesday, March 15, 2017 at her home.

A celebration of life for Sharon will be held at 6:00 p.m. Saturday, March 25 at Johnson Funeral Home, 1110 N. Fourth Street, Effingham, IL. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Saturday prior to the service at the funeral home. Memorials may be made in loving memory of Sharon to the DAV in Effingham.

Sharon (Rosine) Ries was born September 11, 1955 in Benton Harbor, Michigan to Sidney and Ruby (McIntosh) Rosine. Her family moved to Yale, Oklahoma when Sharon was quite young. She attended school there and graduated from high school in Yale in 1973. She moved to Effingham, Illinois shortly after her high school graduation. Sharon married John L. "Jack" Ries in 1979. She worked for many years at Fedders in Effingham and after its closure worked at Three-Z Printing Company in Teutopolis, Illinois retiring from there in 2015.

She is survived by a sister, Joyce Cothrum of Las Vegas, Nevada and one brother Charles Wade of Cushing, Oklahoma. Sharon is also survived by her brother-in-law, Mark Ries (Jane) of Effingham; sisters-in-law, Lynn Meek, Terry Meyer (Dave) and Lisa Eirhart (Keith) all of Effingham; and many loving nieces and nephews.

Sharon was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jack; three sisters, Linda, Deanna, and Carol; and a brother, Carl. She was also preceded by her grandparents, Henry and Eda McIntosh of Yale, Oklahoma; her in-laws, Walt and Mary Ellen "Mitzi" Ries of Effingham, Illinois; and a brother-in-law, Michl “Mike” Meek.

Sharon loved her family and friends and was greatly loved by them. Her life had never been the same since the death of her husband Jack in 2008. Her family takes comfort in knowing that they are together again.
