Frank J. Doedtman, 91, of rural Effingham (Green Creek) passed away Wednesday morning, January 4, 2017 at Lavender Ridge Memory Care in Effingham.

A funeral mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, January 9 at St. Mary Help of Christians Church, Green Creek with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Sunday at Bauer Funeral Home, Effingham, with a 6:30 p.m. parish wake. Memorials may be made to St. Mary’s Church or to the donor’s choice.

Frank was born February 7, 1925 in Green Creek, the son of William and Mary (Hilgefort) Doedtman. He was a member of St. Mary Help of Christians Parish at Green Creek and belonged to several antique tractor clubs before his health prevented him from participating any longer. Frank was also a retired farmer and scrap iron salvager, along with being a jack of all trades for most of his life.

He is survived by sister-in-law, Doris Doedtman of Toledo; two nephews, Wm. Randy (Tammy) of Effingham and Christopher (Jennifer) of Beecher City; five nieces, Dorothy Stewart of Beecher City, Dolores (David) Minardi of Toledo, Vicki (John Michael) Meyerholz of Green Creek, Karen (Ralph) Stewart of Altamont, Carol (Dan) Collins of Toledo and Brenda (Robert) Tucker of Green Creek; 18 great-nieces and nephews and 22 great-great-nieces and nephews.

Frank was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Norbert and sisters, Amelia and Rose Mary; nephew-in-law, Kelley Stewart.
