Cody Huffman, 22 of Osage Beach, MO, died at 6:44 AM, Tuesday, May 1, 2012 in his home.
Funeral services are 10 AM Tuesday, May 8, 2012 at Pagel Funeral Home, Edgewood. Burial with military rites will follow in Edgewood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 – 6 PM Monday at the funeral home. Memorials are requested to donor’s choice. There will also be a memorial service held in Osage Beach, MO. at the Inn of Grand Glaze on Monday, May 14 from 5-8pm.
Cody was born on September 14, 1989, in Effingham, IL the son of David Huffman and Trudy (Followell) Butcher. He was currently active Army National Guard, as a machinist. Cody loved serving his country in Kuwait, spoiling his nieces. On his days that he was not actively serving his country he was a cook/dishwasher at the INN of Grand Glaze in Osage Beach, Mo. His 2004 Mustang was his pride. He enjoyed the outdoors, walks, old cars, swimming, being on his buddy's, Brad Underwood and Paul Kribs boat, and loving life. He loved his basset hound Kane. He had a passion for cooking food for others, at work or for friends and family at home. He was baptised Southern Baptist. He had a very kind heart and was there for anyone that needed him. He was a great listner, understanding and did not judge others easily. Cody had asthma at a young age but that did not stop him from living his life to the fullest. Cody had a genuine smile that would light up the room. He loved to laugh and joke with everyone, there wasn't a person that he could meet that was a stranger. He will be missed by many friends and family!
He is survived by his mother; Trudy (husband, Robert) Butcher of Osage Beach, MO and father; David (special friend, Tina Whitecotton) Huffman of Dieterich,Ill siblings; Jason Followell of Effingham, Misty (husband, David) McGregory of Fulton, MO, and D.J. Huffman of Min, grandmothers; Winnie Followell of Teutopolis and Leola Matteson of Casey, nieces; Emmilee Dial of Fulton MO, Tessa Rehney McGregory of Fulton MO, Baylee Hamm of Osage Beach, MO special friend; Hillary Meyer of Effingham, many aunts, uncles, and other family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents; Herbert Followell and Marion Huffman.
