Herschel Little (86) of Newton

Herschel Little, 86, of Newton, Illinois passed away Monday, June 6, 2016 at his daughter's home in Mt. Vernon, Illinois.

Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 18 at the Newton Christian Church with Rev. Brad Harper officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service in the church. Inurnment will be in the Slate Point Cemetery, rural Newton. Memorial gifts may be made to the Oblong Christian Children’s Home.

Herschel was born on August 30, 1929 in Jasper County, Illinois the son of Clarence and Velva Leola Little. On June 28, 1948, Herschel married Doris Shelly. She preceded him in death on July 20, 2005. Herschel spent his life as an auto and tractor mechanic. He worked for Dufrain Implements for many years. He was a member of the Newton Christian Church of Newton. He enjoyed music, painting, fishing, and camping.

He will be loved and remembered by his children Paul Little, wife Kimberly of Seattle, WA, Katherine Haven of Madera, CA and Rebecca Caudle, husband Steve of Mt. Vernon, IL; and a wealth of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.

His parents, wife Doris, and son Michael Ray Little preceded him in death.
