Edward Groth, 85, of Wheeler died at 10:25pm Thursday, September 20, 2012 at Evergreen Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Effingham.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM – Monday, September 24, 2012 at the Grace Lutheran Church in Dieterich, IL with Pastor Gary Fortkamp officiating.  Burial will be in the Dieterich Village Cemetery in Dieterich, IL.  Visitation will be held 6:00-8:00 PM – Sunday, September 23, 2012 at the Blake-Wright Funeral Home in Dieterich, IL.  There will also be visitation 1 hour before the service in the church.  Memorials may be made to the Grace Lutheran Church or donor’s choice.  The obituary can be viewed and condolences left at www.blakefh.com.

Edward was born on August 12, 1927 in Springfield, IL the son of Frank and Augusta (Goebel) Groth, Sr.  He married Ruth Mellendorf on December 19, 1968.

Edward was a lifelong farmer, carpenter and plumber.  He helped with laying the waterlines for EJ Water.  He was a member of the Grace Lutheran Church in Dieterich, IL and enjoyed bowling.

Edward is survived by: Wife of 43 years – Ruth Groth of Wheeler, IL...Many Nieces and Nephews...Sisters-in-Law – Anita Groth of Effingham, IL, Marlene (Garold) Stuckemeyer of Altamont, IL and Karen (Dale) Kearney of Mattoon, IL...Brother-in-Law – Logan (Vera) Mellendorf of Louisville, IL.

Edward was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Frank (Dawn) Groth, Jr. and John Groth.
