Cecyle Del Cooley, 95, of Effingham died at 5:42pm Wednesday, September 19, 2012 at St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, September 25, 2012, at Centenary United Methodist Church, Effingham, with the Rev. Dr. Joe Scheets officiating. Burial will be in Oak Ridge Cemetery, Effingham. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Monday at Johnson Funeral Home, Effingham.  Memorials may be made to Centenary United Methodist Church, Effingham.  Online condolences may be expressed at www.johnsonandsonsfh.com

Cecyle Del was born on September 15, 1917 in Dieterich, IL, the daughter of Cecil Noble and Ada Priscilla (Gass) Merry. She married John E. Cooley Sr. on September 15, 1937, in Washington, Indiana. He preceded her in death on October 5, 1999.  Cecyle Del was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church, Effingham. She was a cook at Effingham High School for many years retiring in 1976. She loved her family and friends. She was loved by many people and will be missed.

Cecyle Del is survived by her son, John E. (Pat) Cooley Jr. of Sugar Land, Texas; daughter, Judy (Rev. Dr. Alan) Wyneken of San Diego, California; grandchildren, Cynthia Young, Jay Cooley, Karen Martin, Kristen Fitzgerald, Kathy Christensen, and Karla Edwards; and great-grandchildren, Matthew Martin, Kailey Martin, Alyson Fitzgerald, Noah Fitzgerald, Conner Young, and Callie Young.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and brothers, Richard G. Merry and
Merrill Dean “Bud” Merry.
