Brenda K. Light, 60, of Greenup died Monday, September 17th 2012 at 10:20 am at her residence in the comforting presence of her loving family and friends after a long battle with Metastatic Breast Cancer.

A funeral mass will be at Christ The King Catholic Church in Greenup, IL on Friday September 21, 2012 at 11:00 am with Father Chris Brey officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 8:00 pm on Thursday evening at the Barkley Funeral Chapel in Toledo, IL. Burial will be in the Light Cemetery rural Toledo, IL.

Brenda was born on October 24, 1951 in Mattoon, IL the daughter of Vernon and Eveline “Jean” (Tinsman) Oakley. She married Michael “Weez” Light on February 26, 1972 in Greenup, IL.

Brenda is survived by her parents of Toledo; Michael her loving husband of 40 years; daughter Misty Light of Toledo; brother Vernon “Sonny” Oakley Jr. and wife Diana from Diona, IL; several brother and sister in-laws along with several nieces and nephews. Brenda was a retired hairdresser and homemaker. Brenda was member of Christ the King Catholic church in Greenup, IL; Toledo American Legion Ladies Auxiliary and Greenup VFW Ladies Auxiliary. Brenda’s most cherished moments of her life were spent as a loving wife and mother with a goal to make sure everyone she cared for was happy and surrounded with love. Brenda was a ray of sunshine to anyone she met and her family and friends can embrace those endearing qualities along with their many memories to comfort them.
