Denver A. Hunter, 87, of Brownstown, Illinois died peacefully Monday, September 17 at St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital, Effingham.

Funeral services will be held at the First Baptist Church, Brownstown Friday, September 21 at 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery, Avena. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m Thursday at Gieseking-Claggett Funeral Home, Brownstown and one hour prior to service time at the church. Memorials may be made to Fairview Cemetery or the donor's choice.

Denver was born December 2, 1924 in Vera, the son of Owen and Addie Hunter. He was a member of Fairview United Methodist Church and had been an operating engineer out of Local 841, Terre Haute, Ind. prior to his retirement. He married Ellen Durbin Williams in 1992.

Survivors include his wife; daughters, Gerri (husband Tom) Halbrook, Taylorville and Joyce (husband Tom) Robison, Wagoner; stepsons, Virgil (wife Faye) Williams and Rick (wife Patty) Williams of Brownstown; David (wife Bobbye) Williams, Vandalia and Mick (wife Sandy) Williams, Mulberry Grove; step-daughters, Marcia (husband Earl) Pemberton, Brownstown; sister, Rossie Lohan, Florrisant, Mo. and Crystal (husband Kenny) Lape, Brownstown; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters.
