Miriam S. Siple, 83, of Effingham, Illinois passed away at 3:40 a.m. Thursday, April 26, 2012 at Heartland Christian Village, Neoga.

Memorial services will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday at Effingham Assembly of God Church, with the Rev. Don Wallace officiating. Visitation will be from 2-3 p.m. Sunday at the church prior to the service. Interment will be in Atlantic Mine, Mich., at a later date. Johnson Funeral Home, Effingham is in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be made to the American Lung Association. Miriam was born March 22, 1929 in Atlantic Mine, Mich., the daughter of Isaac and Selma (Pennala) Karvonen. Miriam was a member of Effingham Assembly of God Church. She was a homemaker. She enjoyed bowling and especially loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Miriam is survived by her children, Miriam Patricia (husband Tim) Reese of Byers, Colo., Janet (husband Tex) Odom of Denver, Colo., Joel Siple of Effingham and Debbie (husband Wayne) Frye of Thornton, Colo.; brothers, Norman (wife Shirley) Karvonen of Oklahoma City, Okla. and Raymond (wife Gloria) Karvonen of Atlantic Mine, Mich.; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; infant daughter, Sandy; two sisters and five brothers.
