Alan N. Ragel, 67 of Loogootee, died at 6:55 PM Tuesday, September 11, 2012 in his home.

Funeral services will be 11 AM Saturday, September 15, 2012 at Macedonia Christian Church, Loogootee. Visitation will be from 5-9 PM Friday at C & A Pagel Funeral Home, St. Elmo and 1 hour at church prior to service on Saturday. Burial will be in Maplewood Cemetery, St. Elmo with military graveside rites by the St. Elmo American Legion Post #420. Memorials are requested to the National Kidney Foundation Assn., American Diabetes Assn., or donor’s choice.

Alan was born on December 1, 1944 the son of Willard D. and Pauline (O’Dell) Ragel. He married Katherine L. Carter on July 27, 1992 in Las Vegas.  He was a member and deacon of the Macedonia Christian Church, 40 year member of the St. Elmo Fire Department, St. Elmo School Board, Lake Land College Foundation, 52 year trustee of the Wheatland Twp. board, and loved to collect and restore old farm toys. Alan was a US Army veteran serving during the Vietnam War.

Surviving are his wife, Katherine of Loogootee, children, Todd Neil Ragel of Sarasota, FL, Tasha (Todd) Dial of Loogootee, Sabrina (Jayson) Porter of St. Elmo, Garrick (Laura) Moreland of Beecher City, sisters, Lois (Merle) Lash and Donna (Randy) Boschulte all of Springfield, and 7 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Carl Dwaine Ragel and Aridth Elaine Rector.
