Wilton W. Brown, 87, of Herrick, died Saturday, September 8, 2012 in Evergreen Nursing & Rehabilitation, Effingham.
He was born July 13, 1925 in Ramsey, IL, the son of Asberry & Vina Rhodes Brown, deceased. He had lived in Herrick most of his life and had retired from Specialty Products in Taylorville. He had also owned a garbage route in Herrick. Wilton was of the Pentecostal faith and was affiliated with Christ Tabernacle Church and Oak Valley United Pentecostal Church. He liked to hunt, fish, mow yards and study the Bible.
Wilton W. Brown and Betty Jane Brown were united in marriage on April 2, 1959 in Corinth, Mississippi.
He is survived by their children: Angela Brown, Effingham; Greg Brown & wife Mary, Watson; Bruce Brown & wife Connie, Herrick; David Brown & wife Valerie, Shelbyville; Marla Wilkey, & husband Jeff, Effingham; 12 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; and two sisters, Pauline Washburn of Springfield and Esther Washburn of Ramsey.
He was preceded in death by his wife on March 18, 2001; 6 brothers: Gerald Brown, Eugene Brown, Victor Brown, Noah Brown, Espy “Eck” Brown, Asberry Brown, Jr.; and by 2 sisters: Izola Green and Ruth Roos.
Memorials may be made to Christ Tabernacle Church, Herrick, IL.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, September 12, 2012 in McCracken-Dean Funeral Home at 1:00 p.m. with Bishop Tom Suey officiating. Burial will be in Oconee Mound Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m. in McCracken-Dean Funeral Home.
