Leah B. Schmohe, 76, of Effingham died at 5:12am Thursday, April 19, 2012 at her home in Effingham.
Funeral services will be 10:30am Monday, April 23, at Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church in Altamont with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-8pm Sunday at Bauer Funeral Home in Effingham and from 9:30 to 10:30am Monday at the church. Memorials to special projects at Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church in Altamont. Bauer Funeral Home in Effingham is assisting the family with arrangements. Condolences to www.bauerfh.com.
She was born May 2, 1935 in Effingham County, the daughter of James and Verna (Leturno) Beals. She married Joe H. Schmohe on November 29, 1953 and he survives. She was a member of Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church in Altamont and was a secretary for Crossroads Press for 20 years.
Survivors include her husband Joe of Effingham...two sons, Mark and wife Frances of Tecumseh, Oklahoma, and Clay of Shumway...one daughter, Crystal Evans of Dieterich...one sister, Naomi LeCrone of Effingham...nine grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents...three brothers, Leland, Ivan and Wayne Beals...and two sisters, Lorraine Moran and Amy Williams.
