Beatrice I. Grandt, 82 of St. Peter, died at 6:10 AM Sunday, April 15, 2012, at St. Anthony Memorial Hospital, Effingham.
Funeral services, officiated by Rev. William Emrick, will be 11 AM Friday, April 20, 2012, at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, St. Peter with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Visitation is 4 – 8 PM Thursday at Pagel Funeral Home, St. Peter and 1 hour prior to service at the church. Memorials are requested to the St. Peter Lutheran Church, St. Peter First Responders, St. Peter Lutheran L.W.M.L., or donor’s choice.
Beatrice was born on March 8, 1930 in the daughter of Julius Bernhardt and Anna Augusta (Devantier) Krug. She married Lester O. Grandt on February 8, 1948 at Augsburg Immanuel Lutheran Church, rural Shobonier and he preceded her on March 10, 2010. She was a homemaker and farm wife. She belonged to the St. Peter Lutheran Church serving several church offices in the Lutheran Women Missionary League and was a lifetime choir member. She was also a charter member of the St. Peter American Legion Auxiliary. Beatrice was known in her youth for singing with her brother and continued singing with her son, Reggie, at church and many weddings and funerals. She also loved cooking for any and everybody.
Surviving are her sons; Lyn (Trudy) of Fishers, Reggie (Kathy) of St. Peter, and Kim “Doc” (Carmen) of Florence, KY, daughters; Melody (Jim) Norman of Farina and Missy Doyen of Maryland Heights, MO, 12 “Dirty Dozen” grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren.
In addition to Lester, she was preceded in death by her parents, brother; Richard Krug, and sisters; Elvera Krug and Mildred Bauer.
