Cecil Edwin Quick, Jr., 71, of Farina died at 3am Friday, April 6, 2012 at St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham.

Funeral services will be 11am Thursday, April 12, at First Southern Baptist Church in Farina.  Burial in Farina Cemetery with military rites by the Farina American Legion Post #411.  Visitation will be Wednesday from 4-8pm at the church and Thursday from 10-11am at the church.  Rankin Funeral Home in Farina is in charge of arrangements.  Memorials to the First Southern Baptist Church of Farina Roof Fund or St. Peter Area Cancer Support Group.

He was born July 11, 1940 in Farina, the son of Cecil Edwin and Helen Elsie (Whitt) Quick.  He graduated in 1958 from LaGrove High School in Farina.  He joined the US Marine Corps on September 1, 1960 where he served as a radio technician until June 1, 1972, including two tours of duty in Vietnam.  He was most recently employed by S&S Urethane in Farina, was a former employee of Schneider National of Olney, and Whitt Sales and Service, Brown Produce, and Mac's Cafe in Farina, and was a member of First Southern Baptist Church in Farina, where he served as Sunday School director and trustee.

He is survived by his sisters, Shirley Quick and Catherine Rentfrow and husband James of Farina...nephews, Jason Fields and Corey Fields, both of Charleston...nieces, Sara Hunley and husband Josh of Farina and Becky Shamhart and husband Kevin of Effingham...aunt, Edna Whitt of Farina...several cousins...and a host of other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents...grandparents, Clint and Rosa Quick and Harry and Sara Whitt...three uncles...four aunts...and a brother-in-law.
