Walton Roy “Short” Wright, 74, of Decatur, IL, formerly of Wrights Corner, IL, passed away at 6:05 AM Monday July 28, 2014 in Decatur Memorial Hospital in Decatur, IL.

Funeral services will be held at 11:30am Friday, August 1 in Lockart-Green Funeral Home in Beecher City. Pastor Steve Devore will officiate. Visitation will be from 10:30am to 11:30am Friday. Burial will be in Beecher City Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Seven County Kidney Foundation, 4940 KOA Road, Rochester, IL 62563.

Short was born Oct. 16, 1939 at Wrights Corner, IL the son of Noah and Gladys Kelly Wright. He married Evelyn Maxfield on June 16, 1963 in Beecher City. Short served his country in the United States Army and was stationed in Germany. He was employed at Caterpillar Tractor Company in Decatur, IL for 31 years and retired in 1995. He was a member of U.A.W. Local #751 in Decatur. Short was a country boy who loved the outdoors. His passion was, first of all, his family. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening and collecting. He was a baptized believer in Jesus Christ.

He is survived by his wife Evelyn; children: Cynthia (Joe Conley) Houk of La Place, IL; Michael (Kimberly)  Wright of Mt. Zion, IL and Brian (Leslie) Wright of Cerro Gordo, IL; grandchildren: Melanie, Timothy, Matthew, Krista, Melissa, Haley, Aubrey and Braden; great grandson Bentley; brothers and sisters: Leo Wright of Beecher City, Freda Robison of Neoga, IL and Linda (Danny) Schuster of Decatur; sister-in-law Eileen Wright of Mt. Zion, IL; many loving nieces, nephews and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers and sisters: Dale Wright. Lela Wright, Dallas Wright Sr. and Wanda Graumenz ; brother- in-law Orville Graumenz and sister-in-law Glapha Wright.

Our family would like to give a special thanks to the Long Creek Fire Department, the Fourth Floor Nursing Staff  of Decatur Memorial Hospital our neighbors and friends for  the kindness  and special care given to our family.
