Betty Jane Schneider, 65, Farina, IL. passed away at 9:07 p.m. Sunday, July 20, 2014, at her home.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, July 25, 2014, at the St. Peter Lutheran Church in St. Peter, IL., with Pastor Kent Tibben officiating. Burial will be in St. Peter Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, July 24, 2014 at Pagel Funeral Home in St. Peter, IL. Memorials may be made to St. Peter Lutheran Church, St. Peter Lutheran School, St. Peter American Cancer Society, Crossroads Cancer Center in Effingham, IL., or donor's choice.

Betty was born on December 22, 1948, in Vandalia, IL. the daughter of Alwin and Margaret (Rubin) Wollin. She married William Schneider on June 27, 1970, at St. Peter Lutheran Church in St. Peter, IL and he survives. In 1969 Betty received her Bachelor's Degree in Education at Concordia Teacher's College, River Forest, IL. In 1976 she received her Master's Degree in Special Education from Illinois State University. She worked as a teacher and school principal for 32 years at Danville Lutheran School in Danville, IL. Betty loved teaching and anything to do with children. She was a member of the Danville Trinity Eunice Society, and a school board member at Trinity. Upon her retirement she and William relocated to Farina, IL. where she was a member of the St. Peter Lutheran Church, the St. Peter LWML, and enjoyed participating in the annual Christmas Cantata. Betty valued her volunteer time at the St. Peter Lutheran School. She especially loved spending time with her family and grandchildren.

She is survived by her two sons: Nathan Schneider (Amanda) Marietta, GA., John Schneider (Lise') Bourbonnais, IL.; four brothers, Marvin Wollin (Karen) Henderson, NV., Kenneth Wollin, Forsyth, IL., Dennis Wollin (Theresa) St. Peter, IL., Darrell Wollin ( Sandy) St. Peter, IL.; four sisters, Barbara Shelton of Decatur, IL., Sharon Moss of St. Elmo, IL., Rosemary Gibbons (James) of Edgewood, IL., Rhonda Comrie (Scott) of Alhambra, IL.; one sister-in-law, Kaye Schneider of Fort Myers, FL. and five grandchildren, Christian, Austin, Logan, Annelise and Elizabeth Schneider.

She was preceded in death by her parents, son Timothy Schneider; two brother-in-laws, David Shelton and James Schneider.
