Christine F. Koester (87) of Teutopolis

Christine F. Koester, 87, passed away at 12:30 p.m. Saturday, July 19, 2014 at her home in Teutopolis.

A funeral mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 23, 2014 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Teutopolis with burial in St. Francis Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday evening at the church with a 4:30 p.m. C.C.W. rosary and a 6:30 p.m. parish wake service. Memorials may be made to the donor’s choice. Bauer Funeral Home in Teutopolis is assisting the family with arrangements.

Christine was born February 28, 1927 in Cumberland County, the daughter of Leo and Mary (Rieman) Ruholl. She married Norbert H. Koester on September 28, 1949 and he preceded her in death in 1989. Christine was previously employed with Illinois Glove Factory and the M. Snore Company (later, the White House). She was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Teutopolis and the St. Francis Council of Catholic Women.

Christine is survived by her two sons, Larry (Karen) and Allen (Geralyn), both of Teutopolis; two daughters, Elaine (Elmer) Zumbahlen of Wheeler and JoAnn (Allen) Niemeyer of Teutopolis; three brothers, Lawrence (Anna) Ruholl of Teutopolis, Andrew (Betty) Ruholl of Sigel and Arthur (Linda) Ruholl of Teutopolis; sister, Loretta Koester of Sigel; 15 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.

Christine was preceded in death by her parents; husband; grandson, Keith Koester; brother, Leonard Ruholl; two sisters, Irene Niemerg and Lucille Goeckner.
