Robert W. Hawkey, 85 of St. Peter, entered eternal rest surrounded by his family, at 7:10 PM Tuesday, August 7, 2012 at Lutheran Care Center, Altamont.
Funeral services, officiated by Rev. Kevin Donoho, will be 2 PM Saturday, August 11, 2012 at Pagel Funeral Home, St. Peter. Burial, with military rites, will be at Keens Chapel Cemetery, rural LaClede. Visitation is 2 hours prior to service time. Memorials are requested to American Diabetes Assn., American Heart Assn., or American Cancer Society.
Robert was born on January 9, 1927 in Farina, Fayette Co., IL the son of William and Eva (Perry) Hawkey. He married Else Muller on July 7, 1947 and she preceded him in death on September 12, 2009.
He was a retired from the past Fedders Corp., Effingham and Courson Coring and Drilling, St. Peter. Robert was a WWII US Army veteran and attended the Grace Church of the Nazarene, Salem.
Surviving are his sons; Willi (Anna) Hawkey of Kinmundy and Sonny (Debbie) Hawkey of St. Peter, daughters; Annamarie (Randy) Jones of Sterling, OK, Sherry (Carroll) Kline of Farina, and Pat (Ed) Pisula of Mt. Vernon, brothers; Bill (Judy) Hawkey of Kinmundy and Mike (Pat) Hawkey of Kinmundy, sisters; Eunice Krutsinger of Salem and Bonnie Jean Hall of Kinmundy, 15 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren, and 5 great great grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents; son; Louie Hawkey, and grandson; Brian William Pisula.
