Dawn Ellen Giroux, 65, of Anchorage Alaska, passed away at 9:05 a.m. on July 13th 2014 at the Gulf Coast Medical Center in Ft. Myers, Florida surrounded by her loving husband, Bob, sons Brian, Bradley, Brandon, Britton, granddaughter Elizabeth, her brother Rick, and sister Judy.

Visitation will be held from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm on Thursday, July 17, 2014 at the Barkley Funeral Chapel in Greenup, Illinois.  Funeral services will be at 1:00 pm on Friday, July 18, 2014 at the Mullen Baptist Church, rural Montrose IL.  Burial will be in the Mullen Cemetery.

Dawn was born on October 8, 1948 in Mattoon, IL to Richard H. King and Mary E. King. She married Robert Giroux on August 26, 1972 in Anchorage Alaska.

Surviving is her husband; sons Brian (Jen) of Ashburn, Virginia, Bradley (Tobi) of Anchorage, Alaska, Brandon (Winter) of Anchorage, Alaska and Britton (Taylor) of Ashburn, Virginia; brother Richard S.(Dona) King of Charleston, Illinois, sister Judy (Bert) Ellis of Montrose, Illinois, brother John F. King of Philippines; mother Mary E. Shields of Mattoon, Step-mother Thelma Louise King of Montrose; Step-father Ralph Shields of Casey; Step-sister Samantha Millville of Montrose; 7 grandchildren: Elizabeth, Adelaide, Kaydence, Harrison, Bowen, and  Fletcher of Anchorage, Alaska and Genevieve of Ashburn, Virginia.

Dawn was preceded in death by her father Richard H. King. 

Dawn graduated from Cumberland High School in 1966 and earned her B.A. from Eastern Illinois University. She was employed as an elementary teacher at Tudor Elementary in Anchorage, Alaska and retired in 2007. She was a member of the Anchorage Baptist Temple. Dawn was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother.  She loved to travel and spend time with her sons and grandchildren.  

A memorial service will be held in Anchorage, Alaska on July 25, 2014 at the Anchorage Baptist Temple.
