Carolyn I. Tappendorf, 61, passed away from pancreatic cancer Friday, July 27, 2012, at her home in Huber Heights, Ohio.

Memorial services were held at Spinning Road Baptist Church, 538 Spinning Road, Riverside, Ohio 45431 Monday, August 6, 2012. The burial will be held at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Altamont, Illinois Wednesday, August 8 at 5:30 p.m. with the family receiving friends for one hour prior from 4:30-5:30 p.m. Donations will be accepted in Carolyn's name at the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network, www.firstgiving.com/fundraiser/carolyntappendorf/keepthememoryalive. She was born October 29, 1950 in Little Rock, Arkansas, the youngest daughter of Dorothy Louise Orne, and Ralph William Craig. Carolyn graduated from North High School in Denver Colorado in 1968.  She married Lester A. Tappendorf December 5, 1970.  She was a member of St. Matthew Evangelical Lutheran Church in Huber Heights, Ohio. Carolyn retired from Wright Patterson Air Force Base in Ohio, where she worked as a civilian accounting technician for 21 years, with a total of over 30 years of civil service with the United States Air Force.

Carolyn is survived by her husband, Lester; sister, Alice Thompson; daughter, Heidi Westphal and her husband Kevin Mellon of Falcon, Colorado, son, Arthur Tappendorf and his wife Nancy Tappendorf of Marysville, Ohio; and six grandchildren, Jacob and Joshua Westphal and Aaron, Sarah, Noah, and Rachel Tappendorf.

She was preceded in death by her mother, father, and one grandchild, Emma Marie Westphal.
