William H. "Bill" Cox, 82, of Woodbury, Illinois, passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, June 15, 2014, surrounded by his loving family.
 
Funeral services will be at 10:00 am on Thursday June 19th 2014 at the Barkley Funeral Chapel in Greenup, IL. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 pm on Wednesday evening at the funeral chapel. Burial will be in the Mullen Cemetery in rural Montrose.

Bill was born on October 7, 1931, the son of I. W. and Ernestine (Fogelman) Cox. Bill married Shirley (Starwalt) on January 7, 1956. Bill was a carpenter and a farmer for over 52 years. He served in the Korean War and was also a member of the Woodbury Methodist Church, the Life Center of Cumberland County and the Greenup American Legion.
 
Surviving is his wife Shirley, sons Bradley (Rita) Cox of Charleston, IL, Bryan (Marcia) Cox of Carmel, IN; grandchildren Nathan Cox of Chicago, IL, Ashley (Nathan) Barker, Adam Cox and Jodi Cox of Carmel, IN; and sister Edith Croft of Greenup, IL.
 
He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant son Michael, and one brother Thurman Cox.
 
Memorial donations can be made to the Woodbury Methodist Church or to the Life Center of Cumberland County.
