St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital and Alliance for a Healthier Effingham County are partnering to offer a free support group for those contemplating or have undergone Bariatric surgery. Bariatric surgery includes surgeries designed to promote weight loss such as lap band surgery and gastric bypass surgery.
The next Bariatric Support Group meeting will be held on Monday, June 24 at 5:00pm in the Physical Rehabilitation waiting room. The purpose of the support group is to:
-Educate those contemplating bariatric surgery about the options, benefits, lifestyle changes and potential problems with the surgeries.
-Provide encouragement and support to those who have had the surgery to maintain lifestyle changes.
-Provide a place to obtain prerequisite support group prior to surgery (many surgeons require attendance at a support group as a prerequisite for the surgery.)
