The Effingham County Soil and Water Conservation District and the Illinois Department of Natural Resources will conduct a fish-pond management demonstration at Mathias Lake, located 1.5 miles East of Altamont along US 40 on Thursday, May 16 at 5:00pm. Come learn the proper fish species and stocking rates to maximize fish production. Also learn how to identify weeds in your pond and how to control those weeds. Mike Hoee, fisheries biologist with IDNR, will conduct the demonstration. Attendance is free and open to the public. Blake Mathias will be the host of the event.
