Earth Day at the Douglas-Hart Nature Center, near Mattoon, will be held Saturday, April 13 from 7 a.m. to noon. There will be an Indoor Rummage Sale the entire time. The nature center also will host its annual plant sale, choose from local woodland or prairie plants. Take part in activities by offering to help plant or remove invasive species at 9 a.m., 10 a.m. or 11 a.m This is an opportunity for organizations, scout troops, youth groups, school clubs or a family to do their part for their environmentt. Register your group by phoning 235-4644. The activities keep rolling with a "Who Polluted the River?" interactive audience experience at 9:30, 10:30 and 11:30 a.m. Share your origional work during the Artist Appreciation open mic session at 11 a.m. Read a poem or sing a song about the Earth. Through the morning additional activities include upcylcing crafts, coloring contest, games, plant exchange, scavenger hunt, mural painting, refreshments, campfire, conservation corner with Earh day experiences and more. This event is free and open to everyone.
