Bement Christmas

A sleigh-full of community activities will transform the community of Bement into holiday central Saturday, December 8.

Period holiday decorations, candlelight and music will highlight a Holiday Open House from 5-7 p.m. at Bryant Cottage State Historic Site in Bement. The Holiday Open House is free and open to the public. An ideal holiday activity for children and their parents or grandparents will be offered during the Christmas Tea and Story Reading. Reservations are required. Each one-hour time slot will be limited to 10 seats. Sessions will be held at 10 and 11:30 a.m. and 1:30, 3, 4:30 and 6 p.m. A minimum donation of $5 per person is required with all funds benefitting the Bryant Cottage Stage Historic Site. Reservations may be made by phoning 217-678-8184.

Winter Wonderland will be going on all day. It includes a pancake-and-sausage breakfast at the Bement United Methodist Church from 7-10 a.m. Vendors will be selling crafts and snacks in the Bement School cafeteria from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. The Christmas Parade begins at  1p.m. Children may visit with Santa Claus at Bement School after the parade. In the evening, luminaria will decorate Veterans Memorial Park from 5-7 p.m.
