Three Chicks & a Stage’s 10th annual (and final) Memorial Day show, “Play It Again, Uncle Sam,” will be presented at 3:00pm on Memorial Day, May 28, at the Effingham Performance Center. Because this is Three Chicks’ last Memorial Day show, we are highlighting moments from the past nine shows, including music, interviews, and letters. Local musicians, vocalists and the Altamont Choir will perform music from the Civil War through present day. The audience will also enjoy many traditional favorites, including “God Bless America,” “The Ballad of the Green Beret” and “Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy.”

A new addition this year is the Coles County Barbershop Chorus to perform some wartime songs. Once again, the Mattoon High School JROTC Gladiators Drill Team will bring their precision drill to the stage. In the lobby before and after the performance, and during intermission, the Effingham County Cultural Center and Museum Association will host a display of local military history.

The lobby doors open at 2:00pm and auditorium doors open at 2:30pm. Tickets for the show are currently on sale and are $14 for adults and $8 for children 12 and younger. VETERANS TICKETS ARE FREE! To purchase tickets, call the Effingham Performance Center at 217-540-2788 or visit the box office at 1325 Outer Belt West during box office hours. Tickets will also be available at the door beginning at 10:00 am on Memorial Day.
