Franciscan Sisters to Present “Paving Paths for Peace & All Good”
at St. Isidore Parish in Dieterich on March 12

It should come as no surprise that many people today are feeling more stressed and overwhelmed than ever before. Technology has brought us to a place where conflict may lurk behind every click on a screen. The poor seem to be growing in numbers, and our planet has begun reacting to the harsh treatment it has received. We are able to recognize suffering when reading about it online, but are we aware of the suffering of our neighbors? How can we deepen our relationships with them?

With these thoughts in mind, the Franciscan Sisters of Our Lady of Perpetual Help are inviting the public to a special presentation from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m.March 12, at St. Isidore Parish Center in Dietrich.

“Paving Paths for Peace & All Good – An Evening of Lessons for the 21st Century from St. Francis of Assisi” is a program created by the Sisters to address the above issues from a Franciscan viewpoint – showing that the teachings of St. Francis are surprisingly relevant today. Presenters will include Sister Renita Brummer and Sister Connie Probst, who both grew up in the Effingham area, as well as Sister Carol Beckermann, Director of the Effingham-area Catholic Charities office, based in Teutopolis.

“As Catholic Sisters who follow the rule and life of St. Francis of Assisi, we feel his teachings have much to offer the people of the world today,” said Sister Renita Brummer, the congregation’s Minister General. “All are welcome to attend this presentation, where we will focus on three learnings from St. Francis - The Wolf of Gubbio, the Canticle of Creation, and Lady Jacob and her Almond Cookies - that we hope will provide guidance to people seeking peace in their lives.”

This program is free to the public, and no reservations
