United States Air Force Band Concert

The Doudna Fine Arts Center welcomes the United States Air Force Band of Mid-America Freedom Winds on Valentine’s Day February 14. Their group’s diverse repertoire includes jazz and ragtime classics along with popular themes from Broadways hit shows to Hollywoods greatest films.  The 7:30 concert is presented free of charge but a ticket is required for admittance to the Dvorak Concert Hall.

Composed of six virtuoso Airman Musicians, the group’s members have diverse musical interests, which leads to programs with something for everyone. In addition toshowcasing traditional woodwind music, the Freedom Winds take audiences on a tour of some of the most beautiful and exciting music from various cultures around the world.

In addition to performing community outreach concerts, the Freedom Winds are called on to provide music for military retirements, changes of command, holiday caroling formilitary and civilian employees, and other official military functions.

The free tickets for the Freedom Winds concert are available at the Doudna Box Office or can be reserved by emailing doudnatixe@eiu.edu. Box Office hours are Tuesday through Thursday 11:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., Friday 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., and one hour prior to the scheduled performance.

The Doudna Fine Arts Center is located at 1860 South 7th Street in Charleston on the campus of Eastern Illinois University. Convenient free parking is located near the fine arts center.
