Effingham Catholic Charities is a Volunteer Income Tax Assistance site which offers free tax help to people making $58,000 or less annually and need assistance in preparing their own tax returns.  IRS-certified volunteers provide free basic income tax return preparation with electronic filing to qualified individuals.

Services will be available beginning February 6 to April 1.  Two visits will need to be made to complete the tax return.  The first visit will be an interview to collect documentation to complete the preparation and a second visit to finalize the return.

The following documentation is needed:

                Photo ID

Social Security Cards for everyone you are claiming, also must know birthdates of everyone

                Proof of Medical Coverage for everyone on the return

Please make sure you have received all W2’s, 1099’s, etc. and other proofs of income received

Property Tax Bill, Medical Expenses, all other information needed to prepare your taxes

If you are wanting Direct Deposit, we must have something from the bank that shows both the routing # and also your account #
