Two people were injured in a crash in Fayette County early Sunday morning.
The crash was reported at 1:43am on a rural road a quarter-mile north of St. Peter. State police say 20-year-old Zachary Woolridge of Farina lost control of the SUV he was driving. The vehicle struck a tree and then hit a house.
No one in the house was injured. Woolridge was injured and was taken to Fayette County Hospital in Vandalia for treatment. Woolridge's passenger, 26-year-old Matthew Stine of Kinmundy, was injured and was taken to St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham for treatment.
Woolridge was cited for DUI as well as illegal consumption of liquor, failure to reduce speed to avoid the crash, no seat belt, improper lane usage, operating an uninsured motor vehicle, and failure to give aid or information after a crash. Stine was cited for not wearing a seat belt.
