Effingham County State's Attorney Bryan Kibler has announced the scheduling of a community forum on the issue of heroin.

The forum will be held Wednesday, December 18 at 6pm in the City Council chambers at Effingham City Hall in downtown Effingham.

"The purpose of this forum is to raise awareness about the issues surrounding increased heroin and prescription opioid painkiller abuse abuse throughout our region of the state," said Kibler.

The event is open to the public.  Scheduled speakers include Kibler, who will make introductory remarks; Sgt. Brandon Grzechowiak of Illinois State Police District 12 and Investigator Tony Stephens of the Effingham Police Department, who will narrate a PowerPoint presentation; Dr. Doug Kabbes, Director of Emergency Services at St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital; Effingham County Coroner Duane Guffey; and Effingham Mayor Merv Gillenwater.
