This is Veterans Day 2013.  Thanks to those of you who have served or are serving in the military.

The Effingham Veterans Day cerermony will begin at 10:30am today at the Veterans Memorial on the lawn of the old Courthouse in downtown Effingham.

Effingham DAV Chapter 7 will be the host organization.  Local veteran Bill Copple will be the guest speaker.

The Effingham County Museum in the old Courthouse will be open today from 10am to 2pm. There will be special presentations of the video, "They Served With Honor", a film that tells the story of Effingham County's involvement in World War II.  Those presentations will be at 11:30am and 12:45pm.

The Effingham County Museum opened on November 11, 2012, so Veterans Day marks the first-year anniversary of the Museum.  The public is invited to visit during the special hours today.

A free Veterans Day meal is being served in Altamont today for all those who served our country.

Deb's Catering and the Women's Auxiliary will be serving a free meal at the Carriage House Event Center starting at 11am, and will include entertainment from the Altamont School District.
