Beecher City school board members heard this week about a proposed county sales tax that could provide funds for building construction and renovation.

The question is of interest to Beecher City residents in that Shelby County school districts are pursuing the tax question and Effingham County officials are discussing the issue.  The Beecher City district has land in both counties.  Some school boards are pledging to use revenue from the question to pay off any existing building bonds they might have issued.

The Board also heard from David and Joe Lagerhausen who discussed a greenhouse for the district, and heard from representatives of the senior class who talked about a senior class trip to Florida next spring.  There was also discussion of the Spanish class, which is Skyped by the Dieterich district to the Beecher City district.

Board members accepted the audit of the past fiscal year, approved Mitch White as junior high boys basketball coach, and approved Tony Witteborg as junior high boys basketball volunteer coach.
