Neoga school board members have voted to abate taxes for building bonds if a tax referendum for additional funding is passed.

School districts in Shelby County are pursuing a 1% sales tax that, if passed, would generate revenue for retiring bonds and also for maintenance or construction of facilities.  The Board agreed at this month's meeting that if the referendum passes, they would abate taxes for building bonds.

The vote in favor of the motion was 4-2 with members C. Strohl and Moore voting No.  Members Steichmann, Sheehan, D. Strohl and Butler voted Yes.  Member Tom Schutte was not present for the meeting.

In other business, the Neoga board employed Kirk Kepley as boys frosh/soph basketball coach, and received a letter presented from parents to request a work day this Saturday on the varsity baseball field.
