Teutopolis village board members Wednesday discussed more changes to a proposed ordinance regulating the use of golf carts around town.

A group led by Mary Lou Esker has been lobbying for months for an ordinance allowing the use of golf carts.  There have been concerns voiced over the proposal.  One is the regulation on travel of the carts across Main Street, which is also US Route 40 through Teutopolis.

Trustees suggested requirements for windshields, seat belts and a flag on the back of the vehicle to make it easier to spot.  Those and other proposed changes in a draft ordinance will be sent to Village Attorney Bill Austin for review.  The review means the ordinance will not be voted on in November as has been considered.

Village Clerk Sharon Will said a delay in a vote is not a matter of concern since village officials don't want any ordinance to take effect until January at the earliest, so any paperwork wouldn't have to be re-done for 2014.

The Village Board also met in closed session regarding personnel and litigation, but there was no open session action on what was discussed.
