The Effingham County 911 system was the chief topic at the Effingham Noon Rotary Club meeting October 9.

The guest speaker was 911 System Administrator Jodi Moomaw, who shared how the system operates and the approaching concerns of less revenue due to fewer residents with land line phones and increased technology.  An example is how to answer calls by text or other devices and the cost involved to upgrade equipment to field such calls.

Noon Rotarian Norbert Soltwedel, who is a member of the County 911 Board, served as weekly program chairman.
