Above average temperatures and minimal precipitation last week allowed many producers in Illinois to continue harvesting corn, soybeans, and sorghum.

Temperatures averaged 64.6 degrees for the week, 3.3 degrees above normal. Precipitation
across the state averaged 0.28 inches, 0.47 inches below normal. There were 6.4 days suitable for fieldwork. Topsoil moisture was rated at 21 percent very short, 49 percent short, and 30 percent adequate. Subsoil moisture was rated at 24 percent very short, 45 percent short, and 31 percent adequate.

Corn in the dent stage reached 97 percent. Seventy-one percent of the corn crop was mature, compared to 98 percent last year and the five-year average of 73 percent. Corn harvest has reached 13 percent complete, compared to 69 percent last year and the 5-year average of 34 percent. Corn condition was rated at 2 percent very poor, 8 percent poor, 28 percent fair, 45 percent good, and 17 percent excellent.

Soybeans turning yellow reached 88 percent.  Soybeans dropping leaves reached 66 percent, compared to 82 percent last year and the 5-year average of 69 percent. Ten percent of the soybean crop has been harvested.  Soybean condition was rated at 2 percent very poor, 9
percent poor, 33 percent fair, 47 percent good, and 9 percent excellent.

Pasture conditions were rated at 12 percent very poor, 27 percent poor, 44 percent fair, 16 percent good, and 1 percent excellent.
