The big winner at the Sacred Heart Parish Picnic was thinking about her family but turned out to have the right ticket, after all.
The grand prize winner is Bertha Hardig, a long-time parishioner of Sacred Heart Parish. She never misses the 4:00pm Mass on Saturday evenings, and even comes an hour early for prayer and reflection.
Bertha purchased 12 tickets to the big raffle, but she only put her name on two of the tickets while putting her family members' names on the 10 remaining tickets. Having retired from the dietary department at St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital about eight years ago, Bertha was very surprised when she received a phone call around midnight Sunday night.

Since she was too excited to fall back to sleep, she arrived at the Church office early Monday morning to claim her prize. Bertha had her choice between $15,000 cash and a 2012 Chevy Sonic. She chose to take the cash, and plans to purchase a new TV with her winnings. She says for now, that's all she needs.
