The parishes of St. Mary’s in Shumway, Sacred Heart, and St. Anthony, will host a day of prayer on Saturday, September 7, from Noon-5pm, at St. Mary’s Church in Shumway.

All Christians are invited to pray for peace in Syria, the Middle East, and throughout the world.

Adoration and prayer will begin at noon, followed by a closing Benediction at 5pm. Those wishing to pray may stay as little or as long as they are able.

This day of prayer has been set forth in accordance with Pope Francis’ urging of all Christians – Catholic and Protestant – to join together and participate in whatever way they can to pray for world peace.

“I agree wholeheartedly with our Holy Father’s plea for peace and “War never again,” said Fr. David Hoefler, pastor of St. Mary’s, Sacred Heart, and St. Anthony parishes. “Please join me and many others around the world during this time in a prayer for peace.”
